When is the best time to start cutting my lawn?
The best time to cut the lawn is once the soil and outside temperate is warm enough. In Bergen County NJ late April is a good time to begin mowing. Another rule of thumb is once the blades are green and 4 inches long

Preventing weeds in te lawn starts early. Applying a pre emergent in May before weeds even start growing is the best way to prevent weed growth.

Actually the best time to grow new grass is late summer/early fall. This is when weeds are done growing and its warm enough for seeds to germinate.
